AI Factory is an internal platform for Sovico Group, which includes companies such as Vietjet Air, HDBank and Vikki Bank. It lets employees use AI agents to support everyday work, such as business analysis and reporting.
I led UI/UX and the design system for this project. I built the design system on shadcn, then customized its theme and styles for AI Factory.
Who uses AI Factory?
The primary users are employees across the group. They can open a workspace they have access to, choose an AI agent and start a conversation or assign a task.
AI Factory also serves people who create and manage agents, workspace administrators and system administrators. Each group has different responsibilities and access:
- End Users chat with AI agents to support their work.
- Regular Users can create and manage agents, orchestrations and knowledge sources within their assigned workspaces.
- Workspace Admins manage members and their assigned workspace.
- System Admins manage users, workspaces and configuration across the system.
A person can belong to multiple workspaces and switch between them to work with each team's agents and data.
Working with AI agents
For employees using AI Factory, chat is where they can ask an agent a question or assign it a task. They can select an agent or orchestration, enter a request and attach documents when more context is needed.
For people building and managing agents, the platform has separate areas to create agents, combine multiple agents in an orchestration and manage knowledge sources. AI Factory also has a Cost Monitoring screen to track costs and token usage by workspace.
Each group uses different parts of the same product. My UI/UX scope therefore ranged from the chat screen for employees to configuration, monitoring and administration screens.
A design system based on shadcn
I chose shadcn as the foundation for the design system because it is mature, its components are already coded and have been used across many projects. I could also customize and override the theme and styles to suit AI Factory.
I used that foundation to create and customize the product's design system. With existing components for developers to start from, implementation can be faster than building each component from scratch.
